VZ Holden Commodore Spare Parts
By always coming up with modifications that improved the performance of the cars and increased the safety of its riders, Holden Commodore had a reputation for being a “driver’s car.” This opinion was reinforced with the introduction of the VZ Commodore seriesin the marketplace. Thiswasthe 13th update from the Holden Commodore series. This car series, which was considered as the most popular and bestselling cars manufactured in Australia at the time, was manufactured by Holden, a subsidiary company of GM Motors. The Holden VZ Commodore series still comprised the Executive, the Acclaim, the Calais, the SV6, and the SS. Holden still offered the Commodore in two body formats: the sedan and the wagon.
VZ Commodore: a top choice for fuel efficiency
The VZ Commodore series made some changes in the physical appearances of the cars as well as the implementation of an Alloytec V6 engine. Compared to the previously used ECOTEC V6, the Alloytec V6 provided more precision and was more responsive than the previous models. Not only that, the new generation engine was fuel-efficient and more than matched the improved transmissions at the time. The new V6 engines had the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) technology in all of the sedans and wagons, which improved braking systems, creating a very fast response when braking. Changes made to the front suspension allowed a more responsive direct steering. A new power steering pump was added as well.
Undeniably, the highlight of the VZ Commodore series is the 3.6-litre V6. The replacement of the 3.8-litre OHV V6 with the Alloytec V6 engine made the cars in the range 2% more fuel-efficient when compared to its contemporaries. These engines used 4 valves per cylinder, which produced more power with less fuel and fewer emissions. Aside from the engine, the chassis, brake, and steering systems were upgraded all across the series.
Aside from all the mechanical changes, Holden also improved the physical design of the range, especially on the front end.Changes were made to the grilles, headlamps, and the hood design. The iconic Holden Lion symbol was made larger to give the VZ Commodore series a sleeker and more sophisticated look.
